BRIEF BIO of Ambassador (Ret.) Ahmed Salem Saleh Al-Wahishi, Ph.D. Yemeni International Affairs' Center Ambassador (Ret.)
Ahmed Salem Saleh Al-Wahishi, Ph.D. is serving as Chief Representative of the League of Arab States, Amb. Al-Wahishi served as Ambassador of Yemen in Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam. He also served as Head of Mission in Dubai and Tokyo. Joining the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1990, worked in International, Gulf Department and Chief of Cabinet of Minister of Foreign Affairs.

From 1977-1990, Dr. Al-Wahishi was a Professor in the University of Aden.
Ambassador Ahmed Salem Saleh Al-Wahishi has taken several initiatives to strengthen the ties between North Africa, South and West Asia and globally by organizing several events with various associations. As Executive Director of Yemeni International Affairs' Center (YIAC), he has organized and participated in several events, and carried various activities including research work on Political, Economic and Social issues in the Middle East as well as question of Peace, Security and Disarmament.
Ambassador Al-Wahishi has a Doctorate degree (Ph.D) in Economics from Czech Republic 1988. He has also graduated as B.Sc. (Chemistry) from Kuwait University 1977, Diploma in International Law from Moscow University 1991 and Fellowship in International Law from UNITAR, Geneva 1999. Alumni of NESA center in NDU, Washington, U.S.A. 2006.
Promoting GO-NGO Cooperation and Collaboration
- As a BMENA-DAD Government Coordinator with Civil Society Organization at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took various initiatives were taken for GO-NGO collaborations so that NGOs and Civil Society can contribute for shaping government policies and programmes related to the concept of democracy and freedom of expression etc (2005-2007). - Co organizing MOFA
- Yemen seminar with NESA on “Terrorism” (2007)
