The Increasing Importance to help  the Less Developed Countries

The gap has been extending between the countries of Asian League and the advanced countries on the Pacific Ocean. According to the United Nations classification to the less developed countries there were fourteen poor countries including the countries which are small islands on the Pacific Ocean.

The last decade was well-known for the global economic crises that represented an obstacle for the governments of some poor countries to help their people. Despite the advance in the international development agenda, it did not complete its mission in the poor countries.

We need increasing efforts to reduce the gap between the high developed and less developed countries. The economic and social survey which was done by the United Nations in 2011 showed the endless suffering for the less developed countries because of the effects of energy and food crises in 2008 and the universal economic crisis in 2009. The suffering of less developed countries increased because of the increased costs of fuel and food as well as the high rates of poverty and unemployment.

The less developed countries especially the Asian ones suffer from disparity in their economies. The social disparity between males and females creates challenges to these countries to reduce famine and mortality.

There are fourteen Asian countries which are classified as less developed countries encountering additional hardship because of its geographical location such as being bordered by land and having no sea ports which isolated them from international markets. There are also less developed

countries on the Pacific Ocean, which are considered as small islands, encountering the challenges of geographical isolation or being flooded by the sea water because of the rising sea levels there.

We find that the extension of the gap between the rich countries and less developed countries in Asia and Pacific Ocean is predictable due to the endless challenges and new risks. This requires establishing a partnership between the United Nations and the governments as a measure to solve this problem. This partnership includes achieving sustainable development in less developed Asian and Pacific Ocean countries depending on bases aiming to improve living conditions, offer programs for social protection, and economic policies.

The UN Survey to evaluate the capabilities of Asian and Pacific Ocean less developed countries showed a regression compared with the international developmental rates in the last two decades. It is important to eliminate all the social differences between the less developed countries, improve the investment conditions, and integrate bigger number of the poor people in new markets to achieve their economic demands. The employment policies must expand especially in agriculture and small companies. This regional and semi-regional integration may improve the economy of the less developed countries especially through the programs of Commercial and Financial Integration.

The shrinkage of natural resources such as the agricultural lands, water resources and threat to the coastal lands represents threat to the communities of less developed countries. This requires taking new measures to protect the natural resources and achieve ecological balance through good usage to the natural resources and protect biodiversity.

The international community is called to give a helping and supporting hand to the less developed countries to achieve the required improvement for their people and make the lives of coming generations better.
